Thursday Giveaway...

This week, one lucky winner will snag a raku-fired ceramic focal pendant! This lovely pendant comes courtesy of Diana Ptaszynski of Suburban Girl Studio LLC! I love the bright, rainbow iridescence and how it looks like a shard of an ancient tablet adorned with cuneiform or some forgotten primal language. For more examples of her work, visit her blog. (Diana is currently away on vacation, but also check out her Etsy shop when she returns for more of her beautiful work.)

To win this pendant is easy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post WITH what you'd pair with this lovely pendant. Whether it be strung on simple leather cord, or elaborately beaded with your favorite shade of seed bead, leave a comment with how you'd use it! One lucky winner will be randomly selected from the comment section of this post on Monday (September 20th) at midnight EST. Anonymous comments won't cinch this prize! So, be sure to leave your name and email address if it doesn't already appear next to your entry. Don't forget to also include how you'd use this pendant to be eligible to win! This giveaway is open to all participants, including international readers.

Bonus Points: If you really want this pendant, you'll want to earn an extra entry. You can get this by blogging, updating your Facebook page, and/or Twittering about this Thursday Giveaway. Don't forget to add the link to your act of social media kindness as a separate comment to be eligible for your extra chance to win this pendant!

Extra Bonus Points: Do you really, really, really want this pendant? Earn an extra entry by stopping by Suburban Girl Studio's Facebook Fan page and liking it. Add a comment to this post after you've liked it.

Pearls are what come to mind. A deep peacock blue and green with some Miyuki matte cube beads (one of my go-to staples). I also see an oxidized copper with this. Beautiful inspiration Andrew!
Enjoy the day!

Hard to say until I actually had the bead in hand and could see it with other material rather than guessing, but just going by what the colors look like on my monitor, I'd pair it with multiple stands of turquoise, amethyst and citrine.

What a wonderfully beautiful and exciting pendant! I would love to have a go on creating something with it. So what would I do? Some things just get your imagination working directly. This one is one of those. :-) Because I would want to lift forward its rainbow irridicence and structured surface I would use opaque pale ivory silk string, and a strand of seed beeds also in ivory. I would add some smaller brass beads, or antiqued golden, somewhere along the strand a bit further up to kind of speak with the golden tones in the pendant. Something dark would also be necessary I think. I would use antiqued golden/brassy metal for the clasp and the findings.

I would string it on some lovely hand-dyed ribbon by JodyPosey - shoreline curly black or waterlily. I would add some iridencent swaroksi or fire polish in jet or hemitate with different finishes (including AB) and throw in a dark potato pearls to hang in front of the pendant.

What a stunning pendant - I absolutely adore raku.

I am just learning Herringbone stitch so I would attach a tubular rope stitched with an array of seed beads in rich blues, greens, teals and peacock coloured seed beads.

Thanks again for a wonderful giveaway.

Rustic oxidized copper wire- wrapped links with burgundy pearls would look very cool with Diana's beautiful pendant. Thanks for having another great giveaway!

This would probably look good on a turquoise or aqua sheer ribbon.

You could do so much with this beautiful piece but I think I would pair it with some nice brass chain and raku beads!

I think, for me I would work some of my stitching magic and do a simple bead embroidery with blue/purple iris, duracoat golds and a smidge of some turquoise-y color. Simple rugged strap...maybe sari silk.

wow, some of these entries are creative and fancy. I am not so artistic , so I would just put it on a black silk ribbon and wear it against a black or navy simple top or dress and let the gorgeous piece speak out to everyone on its own!

Wow super cool pendant.
I'm thinking leather cord and a few bi-cone crystal dangles and maybe a single freshwater pearl dangle. Although an anciect looking face or coin would be awesome. swopemelmel@aol.com

Ooooo gorgeous pendant!! I would pair this lovely piece with oxidized Sterling wire, some of my own faux raku polymer clay beads and some chocolate colored freshwater pearls made into an asymmetric chain necklace. That's what I would do!

Unknown said...

It's gorgeous. I'd have to make some polymer clay beads to go with it, not quite sure what, but something fairly simple as the pendant is so rich and textured.

I'd dangle old keys and treasures below and string it on a simple strand of beads. Loved your interview on Lark Books website!

I'd love to own this beautiful pendant. I think it would be great as the focal point of a multi-strand longer necklace. I already have some almost matching tiny seed beads and some copper and gold wire that I could crochet into a chain with the beads.

I would pair this pendant with a shibori dyed silk ribbon in shades of turquoise and olive green!

I have been so busy with the mini move that I had missed this.
I would definitively see this working with diferent types of chain. Some medium, some big and some small links. Maybe some glass too.

SueBeads said...

Sorry, I forgot to mention how I would use the pendant - I'd like it as a focal and combine it with my enameled beads - I can see the colors!

Amy S. said...

Very beautiful! I would probably bezel set this pendant in seed beads and work it into a free form beaded necklace!

How about black onyx and peacock blue rice pearls? That would be my choice to showcase this stunner.

Oh, it's gorgeous! I, of course, see amethyst in there and would being that out first. I also have some faceted dark blue pearls and would part with a few of those. Going by the photo, I first thought of copper, but not sure if gold might work better for some metal accent. I can't wait to play around with it, ha ha! Thank you for posting this!
