Speak...

"Poetry is a way of taking life by the throat."

Left:  Detail of a painting by Monica Cook.  Having been based out of Savannah, Georgia, her paintings were often classified as Neo-American Gothic, but her work transcends the label and delves deeply into psychological portraiture - creating poetry in a very visceral way.

This is such a GREAT portrait! What a beautiful rendition of that girls face & she's so stylized with her gestures. I just love it. Have you been painting any lately?

Monica Cook is an amazing artist as well as an amazing person. Goodness knows that I haven't seen her in years now, but she's truly talented and one of the finest and most accomplished artists that I personally know. She's a sweet Southern Belle who's sassy and fun and really just sweet!

You should Google Image search some of her work. I don't think you'd be disappointed. She had a series called Migration and I think it was just so poetic.

I've been painting a little. Mostly small things. I should post them here sometime, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. Perhaps I will after my ebay auction is all done.
