Brave New World...

"O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is!
O brave new world
That hath such people in't!"
- Miranda from William Shakespeare's, The Tempest

To the left is a photograph of Britain's first cloned embryo created by the Newcastle University team. Apparently they've taken this one step further by creating the first human-animal hybrid embryo for stem cell harvesting. CLICK HERE to read the article in The Guardian about it. I found THIS Q&A about hybrid embryos (also from The Guardian) to be helpful in navigating the other article. When I think about science and all these advancements, I tend to think of alchemy and mythology. I remember reading with Cynthia the alchemical recipe for cooking up a bird girl. Soon even the most seemingly impossible of magics will be a reality. It's kind of scary, sad, beautiful, and thrilling all at once. At the bottom left is a new "Dark Harpy" piece by Forest Rogers. CLICK HERE for her blog or HERE for a gallery of images of her ultra-detailed magical work on Epilogue. Soon she might be my neighbor!
